In partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), FPC is able to offer the aeronautics flagship to all 10th-12th grade students. To enter the program students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and are then required to keep at least a 2.0 GPA to continue in the program. All ERAU aeronautics flagship courses are taught on the FPCHS campus by an ERAU professor. Coursework is centered around aviation, aerospace, and engineering with a focus on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Through this program students have the opportunity to earn free college credits. For the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.

The following courses are being offered:

  • Principles of Aeronautical Science

  • Intro to Unmanned Aircraft Systems

  • UAS Applications in Aerial Photography
  • UAS Systems Operator
  • FAA Private Pilot Ground School

Many of these courses offer students the opportunity to take industry certifications. This year, the flagship is offering the FAA Ground School exam, the sUAS Safety Certification, and the Visual Line of Sight System Operator certification. All of these exams are offered free of charge to our aeronautics flagship students who complete program requirements and are ready for the exam.

There are also many perks for students in the Aeronautics flagship. Many students participate in field trips and UAS competitions. In addition to this, students in the flagship are eligible to apply for ERAU scholarships that will help them complete their degree.

Enrollment for this flagship begins in the spring of each year. Interested students will need to choose the flagship courses on their course selection sheet. For more information, please see your guidance counselor or Professor Smith in room 7-108.
