Celebrate Literacy WeekThe Florida Department of Education has designated January 24–28 as Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! This week is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading, and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.

The 2022 Celebrate Literacy Week theme is Launch Into Literacy, Blast Off Into New Worlds! With this theme in mind, Flagler Schools will be reading books with a variety of settings to support the New Worlds Reading Initiative program released this fall. 


Flagler-Palm Coast High School will celebrate literacy with these fun daily activities:

Launch Into LiteracyMonday, January 24th
  • 1st period DEAR: 10-minute reading (independently or teacher-led)

Tuesday, January 25th
  • 2nd period DEAR: 10-minute reading (independently or teacher-led)

Wednesday, January 26th

  • 3rd period DEAR: 10-minute reading (independently or teacher-led)

Thursday, January 27th
  • Throwback Thursday
  • Post pictures of your favorite childhood book
  • 4th period DEAR: 10-minute reading (independently or teacher-led)

Friday, January 28th
  • Be a Good FPC Sport and Read! - Dress in team or sports gear
  • Pizza party drawing for reading reflections participation
  • 5th period DEAR: 10-minute reading (independently or teacher-led)

The following daily activities will also be included:
  • Quote on the morning announcements 
  • DEAR reading reflections
